T.O.R.C.H. Chair

Michael W. Alemayehu

    AUC School: Morehouse College
    Classification: Sophomore
    Major: Mathematics / Electrical Engineering
    Hometown: Atlanta, GA
Testimony: For me, NSBE wasn't available in high school, but I definitely heard the rumors about the organization. NSBE was the first organization I joined when coming to Morehouse. I wanted to witness a legendary and elite program acknowledged African American students in engineering for hard work, determination, and giving back to the community. NSBE also allows us demonstrate leadership skills in different levels of management. Because NSBE is the largest student ran organization in the nation, I believe that everyone in affiliation should be proud for contributing to a much greater cause than a national club. Our initiatives are legit, programs are impactful, and our students are dedicated.
Personal Statement: As T.O.R.C.H Chair for the 2011-2012 school year, I aspire to fulfill the third bullet of the NSBE Mission Statement: positively impact the community. It is my prime responsibility to get our chapter involved in service to our neighborhoods along with interacting with other programs and organizations.

Interesting Fact: My parents are from Ethiopia, I've visited twice, and I can speak and comprehend Amharic, the major language.
